Viktoria Modesta was born in Latvia and has a below the knee amputation as a result of an accident at birth by negligent doctors. Viktoria and her family left Latvia to escape the post ussr regime and decided to have a voluntary below the knee amputation.
She is now a singer/songwriter and model and also a fashion icon with a unique style and the way she doesn't hide her disability and turns it into a fashion statement to confront our perceptions of what is beautiful.
The image above shows her wearing a prostatic leg embellished for more detailed images please go to the alternative limb project.
There are some amazing images on there. The Alternative Limb Project make custom made prosthetics real and alternative for people. They help people with amputations to see that they don't need to hide away their disability and that an alternative limb can be as creative as you want it to be. There are no barriers and no limitations and I am so inspired by this I hope you guys are too.

Wellcome Collection: Death Experience

This has to be one of the most unusual exhibitions I have ever been too. But it also was one of the most interesting and inspiring. Those of you who have not been to the Wellcome Collection museum, you are missing a real gem. Its full of interesting curiosities from different times and cultures and explores the deep connections between art and medicine.

This exhibition explores our attitudes towards death, from artists and different cultures and medical professionals. There are some amazing prints from Albrecht Dure and Goya. Also some pieces from the mexican festival day of the dead.

Tim Walker

We to see Tim Walkers exhibition the other day and I have to say it was amazing. I am always inspired when I see his work. I love the props they really bring the image to life. I didn't realise there was a workshop there too in October I would have been there with bells on.

Christmas Fair @ Spitalfields Market

Last weekend I took part in the Designers/Makers Market @ Spitalfields Market. I wasn't alone, my talented ceramics friend Alice Shields was with me too.
Spitalfields Market was a beautiful venue and made me feel so festive.
